An intersection of material, memory, and meaning; The National College of Arts proudly presents DABGAR, a collaborative exhibition by Pauline Esparon and Zahid Mayo, inaugurated by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri at Zahoor ul Akhlaq Gallery.
This thought provoking exhibition delves into the expressive possibilities of camelskin, exploring its transformation into objects, surfaces, and texts. Pauline Esparon’s work highlights the material’s depth, from luminous globes resembling the full moon to sculptural candlesticks that hold light in unexpected ways. Meanwhile, Zahid Mayo integrates poetry and calligraphy onto traditional Takhti and tablets, merging manuscript and sculpture to celebrate the art of writing.
Their collaboration bridges cultures, drawing inspiration from Sufi traditions of Multan and resonating with the words of René Char and Ibn Arabi. The exhibition also features The Dabgar Movie, an archival documentary showcasing the intricate craftsmanship behind this unique material.
The exhibition is open to public at Zahoor ul Akhlaq Gallery, NCA, from February 28th till March 3rd, 2025.
