Kahkashan Jafri : 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘢𝘤𝘬 1990-2025

The National College of Arts opened the much anticipated exhibition Kahkashan Jafri: Looking Back 1990–2025 at it’s historic Tollinton Block on April 15th, 2025. Inaugurated by renowned architect, conservationist, and intellectual Prof. Kamil Khan Mumtaz, the exhibition invites visitors on a reflective journey through three and a half decades of artistic evolution. Hosted as part of NCA’s celebrations marking 150 years of excellence, the exhibition pays tribute to the deeply personal, expressive, and nature inspired work of Kahkashan Jafri. It had Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri, along with other dignitaries in attendance.

The exhibition captures the essence of Kahkashan Jafri’s profound relationship with nature, memory, and emotion. Her artist statement reveals a unique creative philosophy; one where words fall short, and colour takes center stage. Through layered brushstrokes, vibrant tones, and emotive forms, her work explores life’s experiences, translating complex feelings into compelling visual narratives. Each piece on display resonates with the rawness of lived memory and the timeless pull of the natural world.

Open to the public till April 21st, 2025, this exhibition is a must visit for art lovers, students, and all those drawn to honest and evocative storytelling through art. Gallery hours are from 10:00 am till 4:30 pm.
