The National College of Arts organised a special calligraphy exhibition titled “Rehmatul-Lil-Alameen” to commemorate the 1500th birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). The exhibition featured exquisite works of Islamic calligraphy, reflecting devotion, reverence, and artistic excellence.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Mrs Fatima Jafri, wife of the Vice Chancellor NCA; who appreciated the creative efforts of the participating artists and highlighted the importance of preserving and promoting the sacred tradition of calligraphy. The exhibition not only celebrated this historic occasion but also underlined the role of art in strengthening cultural and spiritual values.
Situated in the oldest and most historic block of the College, Gallery NCA consists of two large rooms with their original skylights and plaster friezes bordering the walls. Established in 1993 the gallery aims to build up its own Permanent Collection of works by Pakistani painters, sculptors, designers and printmakers, besides hosting visiting exhibitions of the most representative work of artists, designers and architects from home and abroad.
One of the purposes of establishing Gallery NCA within the premises of the College is to make readily available to students the best examples of Pakistani art in order to inculcate in them the discipline of critical evaluation. This is also meant to enhance their experience of viewing images and to develop in them the habit of regularly visiting and viewing art displays.
