The Federal Minister of Education & Professional Training; Honorable Mr. Madad Ali Sindhi received a warm welcome by Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Murtaza Jafri at National College of Arts, Lahore on opening of the exhibition OSCH Lahore X Glasgow on 28-09-2023. Minister Madad Ali Sindhi expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the dedicated work and outstanding team effort showcased at the exhibition. The collaboration between NCA, Glasgow Life Museums, and the Walled City of Lahore Authority, supported by the British Council, exemplifies the power of connecting cultures through traditional craft and storytelling, he added.

The Crafting Histories project enabled youth participants from Glasgow and Lahore to map existing and forge new connections between the UK and Pakistan through the traditional craft practices represented in the collections and sites of all three partnering institutions. This exploration extended to include the oral traditions of Urdu, Persian, Punjabi and Gaelic storytelling. A group of young participants from Lahore and Glasgow tuned into each other remotely and forged fresh connections between Pakistan and the UK through the traditional art practices of fresco work, mirror work and storytelling. The work displayed at NCA is a culmination of a series of workshops, seminars and close conversations with master craftsmen; museum professionals, art historians and artists.
